SurveyMonkey Rewards Review

URL: Official website; requires Android/ChromeOS or iOS app download

One of the more fair and honest survey sites and from a trusted name, limited only by somewhat low activity and having to use it via a mobile app

NATURE OF WORK AND PAYMENT

SurveyMonkey Rewards is a fairly standard paid survey app, though more simple and straightforward than most. You don't receive a list of surveys to select from as you do with some others, you're just offered one at a time without the ability to see anything more than the pay you'll be getting.

That might raise some red flags, but as it turns out this is one of the most fair and well-run survey sites out there; I'd personally put it just short of Prolific, but this one is much easier to get into and use. Surveys are all in a simple and standard format common to SurveyMonkey surveys, and don't hit you with unpleasant surprises like long times to screen-out or "chaining" you to a new survey automatically. Pay is also fair for the length and what the surveys ask. If you're screened out, which usually happens within the first minute, you get 10 cents for your time.

Payment is one limiting factor: it's only by gift card. The two options are Amazon, or a service called "Prizeout" that says it provides access to over 100 brands. I haven't tried this option out personally as I'm content with the direct Amazon option, but it does seem to have a good selection of the usual big chain brands in the US: Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Coinbase, and a bunch of the usual restaurant chains and travel options jump out. But whichever way you go, once you cross $5 in earnings you can cash out that exact amount to a gift card at any time.

SITE HISTORY / LEGITIMACY

SurveyMonkey is arguably the world's biggest and most recognizable name in survey software, at it since the internet was in its early years in 1999, and is about as stable and legit as it gets. The Rewards app seems to have been available since 2018, so it has a solid history of its own at this point.

INTERNATIONAL ACCESS

This is another one of the big limitations: while the app is available in 16 languages, surveys are only available to participants in the United States.

STARTING OUT

It's pretty much "download and go," just fill out some profile elements and you'll start being matched with surveys. There hasn't been an ID check as of yet (after cashing out numerous times now), but there is a phone check for a US non-VoIP number before you can cash out the first time.

The app works fine on ChromeOS for those looking to use it.

PROBLEMS WITH SURVEYMONKEY REWARDS

I'd love to see more regular activity on it, some days there's nothing at all and some you just get one or two very short surveys for 25 or 50 cents each, but otherwise the app leaves you very little to complain about. I wish all survey sites conducted their business this way.

One little hink that developed in the last couple months is being prompted for "access to your connection type" when booting up the app all the sudden, I'm not entirely sure what this is for but canceling out of it does not have any impact on the app nor has stopped surveys from coming in.

FINAL VERDICT - Highly Recommended

It's more of a small and occasional earner, but I see no reason not to keep this around (unless maybe gift cards are just of utterly no use to you). Over the course of about 10 months it's defrayed most of the expense of a pretty good new Android tablet for more earning shenanigans for me, with very little time and effort required.
