Google Opinion Rewards Review

URL: Official website; requires app download from app stores for Android/ChromeOS or iOS

Google's own internal survey system has occasional, generally short surveys for Google Play credits (which can be converted to actual cash and more useful means through a couple of methods)

NATURE OF WORK AND PAYMENT

Google runs its own little survey app that pays out, and it's mostly based on where you've taken your phone or device. The surveys have a very standard, simple format and tend to be VERY short (but also not pay a whole lot, 1 or 2 questions for like 15-20 cents is not uncommon).

Payment is only to credit for the Google Play store. What's the point of that? Well, there are a couple of ways now to turn that into a more useful currency. The longtime way, which is still available, is to do offers on GPT sites. There are some that allow you to make a purchase in a game as a goal to get cash back from the GPT site, or you can put the Play credits toward power-ups that allow you to reach other gameplay goals.

As of November 2025 there's a much more direct method, however, at least for certain countries of the world: you can simply buy gift cards directly in the Play Store with credits. I can only speak to what's available in the US but it's a very broad selection of the usual big chain retailers and restaurants, though some conspicuous absentees are Amazon and Walmart (Target is in the lineup though). In the travel realm you've got Delta, Hotels.com, and Airbnb among others. For everyday transport there's Chevron gas, Uber and Lyft. there aren't any grocery options that I see right now, but they do have Instacart.

Your Play Store purchases also earn credit in the Google Play Rewards system (if you opt into it), which accumulates rewards points that can also eventually be cashed in for real gift cards.

Keep in mind these credits do expire one year after you earn them, even if you earn additional credits.

SITE HISTORY / LEGITIMACY

Well, not a lot to say here. It's Google, hopefully you're aware of them by now. People have taken numerous legitimate issues with their privacy practices, but you don't have to worry about them running off with your money. This app has been going since 2013.

INTERNATIONAL ACCESS

As of this writing, official word from Google is that Opinion Rewards is available in about 40 countries. You must be 18 or older to do surveys in the US, similar age restrictions likely apply in other countries.

STARTING OUT

Just download and go, but there are a few little opaque things to know to maximize the amount of surveys you receive.

One is that the more privacy you're willing to give up, in terms of location data and targeted ads, the more surveys you'll get. The app will prompt you and give you links to change your settings appropriately if you're on board.

Google doesn't make it obvious what triggers surveys, but visiting (or even getting close to) certain locations seems to regularly prompt something to appear. This will probably work best on a phone through its mobile connection, but you can get something of the same effect with a tablet or Chromebook by manually connecting to the public wifi of various stores and restaurants and such.

What you search for via Google's own search and AI products also seems to sometimes spur surveys. Home Assistant and YouTube use MIGHT also prompt surveys, but that's not entirely clear.

PROBLEMS WITH GOOGLE OPINION REWARDS

One of those rare survey sites where the experience is extremely smooth and user friendly, and the only real "problem" is that you'd like to get a lot more action on it!

Privacy might be a concern, but if you're working from a "limited privacy" device dedicated to just doing these sorts of offers and activities, that's not really an issue.

FINAL VERDICT - Highly Recommended!

Though you shouldn't expect more than occasional very short surveys for small pay, the ease-of-use makes it worth keeping around on any money-earning devices you've got going IMO. It's especially key if you do GPT site offers.
