Update - CrowdSource is now OneSpace

 "How's work at Penetrode?"
"You mean Initrode."
"Yeah, whatever."

(Update 02/01/2016: Thus far in 2016, OneSpace has added nothing new and has apparently lost the contract with Ask.com, so thus far there's absolutely nothing going on.)

Out of the blue (at least for me), CrowdSource is rebranding as OneSpace.
I can't find much information beyond the email they sent me, but this does appear to be an internal restructuring rather than a takeover by another company, given the company filed a patent for the name back in June.

The workstation is shutting down on the 17th to do the changeover. Thus far all indications are that they will continue with the same jobs (and same piss-poor editing). I'll log in periodically after the 17th and if new types of work are offered, or if the editing process improves significantly, I'll leave word here and do a new review of them as OneSpace.

For now, here's the info I have from the email that was sent to registered workers:

* "As we expand to provide a more robust set of solutions to both clients and freelancers, we feel it’s important for our brand to reflect our commitment to providing a single, simple-to-use platform where businesses and freelancers can collaborate."
So no more Mechanical Turk support? Could be a good thing if they do a better job screening the entry-level editors. No word either way at this point.
* "More changes are on the horizon. Look for announcements in 2016 heralding exciting improvements to OneSpace and the opportunities available to you as the biggest brands on the Internet launch their work on OneSpace."
Given that the last two years have pretty much been nothing but Ask.com and Overstock.com, I'll believe this when I see it.
Stay tuned, more news here as it develops!
Update 11/27

Some new information posted at this link. Here's the highlights:

* "Rebranding as OneSpace provides the opportunity to own a name that represents our mission to liberate the world from the confines of a traditional work model."

* "OneSpace offers more than just crowdsourcing opportunities. The new features on this platform will allow freelancers to maximize opportunities and be noticed directly by clients. "

Does this mean going so far as competing with sites like Freelancer? We still don't know yet ...

* "Look for announcements in 2016 heralding exciting improvements to OneSpace Freelancer and the opportunities available to you as a member of our workforce."

So I guess we'll see you in January with further updates then.
